About Rita

I've been helping kids succeed in Math and Reading since 2007 at a public charter school and as a private tutor. I've been tutoring online since 2017 so distance learning is not new to me.

As a child my family read to me all the time.  I grew up loving to read and I still do.  As a reading tutor, I get to share with students the delight in reading a great story by helping them become more skillful readers.

Math was a different story - I struggled with it through most of elementary school.  I became a math tutor because I understand the frustration and anxiety students feel when it comes to doing math.  

I am able to break down complex concepts in a way that makes math make sense. I explain the whys first before the hows because students need to have conceptual understanding before learning procedures and formulas.
